Michelle Obama's sold out her one Dress at $2,095

First lady Michelle Obama waves as she stands between Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy (L) and Vice President Biden's wife Dr. Jill Biden (R) as they attend U.S. President Barack Obama's State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in Washington, January 12, 2016.

Good luck getting your hands on Michelle Obama's State of the Union dress.
The Internet went into a flurry Tuesday night when the First Lady was spotted in a marigold Narciso Rodriguez dress, while President Barack Obama was delivering his (presumably) last address to Congress.

But frenzied shoppers were quickly disappointed, when they learned that the designer frock was sold out on Neimanmarcus.com.

The dress, which was originally priced at $2,095, was marked down to $628 on Black Friday. It was part of the designer's fall 2015 collection, which was shown on the New York runway in February.

Love all things H&M? Cheer to hear that H&M is set to expand its three-storey Singapore flagship store at the H&M Orchard Building.
As part of the store's refurbishing works, H&M will add a new fourth level to its current 30,000 square feet shopping space.
It will still be business as usual at H&M Orchard Building, as renovation works will take place in phases at the flagship store.
Expect to see the store's complete new look by early 2014. With the planned expansion, the store revamp will create dedicated floors for both the Men's section and the kid's department.  Presently, H&M menswear and children's fashion are located together on the third floor.
We won't say no to more affordable fashion at H&M: especially when we're shopping for the men in our lives.

Get a piece of J.W. Anderson’s SS13 collection now at Club 21

Indulge yourself with pieces from award-winning British fashion designer J.W. Anderson’s Spring Summer 2013 collection now available at Club 21

The name of J.W. Anderson, short for John William Anderson, hasn’t left the tip of the industry’s tongue since Browns bought his namesake line of menswear in 2008. Discovering that it was women buying the collection, the young designer has been producing womenswear ever since.
It is not surprising that the designer continues to remain the talk of the town after receiving the Emerging Talent Award for his ready-to-wear collections at the 2012 British Fashion Awards. Fashionistas rejoice, for his Spring Summer 2013 line has arrived in Singapore, available at style emporium Club 21.

This season, the young Irish fashion designer took a break from his signature androgynous style. He has infused more girly elements into his play on the masculine/feminine theme, with oversized frills on shorts or asymmetrically down the hems of long tops reminiscent of the Jazz Age.
The above-the-knee hems and waists of dresses dropped to the hipline remind you of the flapper styles of the 1920s. Even the frilly clutches seem to allude to women’s fashion of that period.

Anderson has, however, not entirely eschewed his trademark blend of androgyny; he freshened things up in the collection for SS13 with an athletic cut on lightweight dresses and a consistent skirt-over-pants look. There’s no need to fret over matching two separate pieces anymore with Anderson’s pants with outer-skirt flap, it has already been done for you.
The tops feature prints and patterns on cotton, complete with flaps, and are versatile enough to match skirts, shorts or pants. This collection is definitely a good place to dip your toes into first, and then perhaps dive, into androgynous, retro, high fashion.

Puma opens its first ‘Retail 2.0’ concept store in Singapore

A new shopping experience, including a catwalk in the middle of the shop floor, awaits you at Puma’s new ‘Retail 2.0’ store now open at Vivocity

PUMA3gallery_0.jpg

A catwalk in a sports retail store may be a bit unusual but it is part of Puma’s new “Sportlifestyle” shopping experience – a blend of fashion and sports apparel, accessories and footwear.
One of the first of 40 new concept stores rolled out across the world, the Puma store at Vivocity features a catwalk area in the middle of the retail space that will be used to feature lifestyle footwear and seasonal trends from the brand’s various collections. There will also, presumably, be the odd runway show held there.
Puma has revamped their store layout to create a brighter, more inviting environment for you to spend time browsing and trying on the clothes and shoes.

The 109 sqm outlet now has a clearer layout; you can easily see the difference between the men’s and women’s sections, which have also been broken down into the various product ranges like Performance (Running, Teamsport and Fitness items) and Lifestyle (Social and Fundamentals items).
Find what you need at a glance by watching product demonstrations on mounted screens above the display shelves and get detailed information on the technology behind the footwear.

Hong Kong’s cult i.t boutique opens in Singapore in June

Cult Hong Kong fashion group I.T will open its first i.t multi-brand store at Wisma Atria in June with an array of popular in-house brands like Izzue, b+ab, 5cm, tout à coup, fingercroxx & Venilla suite plus hot Japanese brands as know as de base, mysty woman & Pageboy

Known for its support of cutting-edge fashion and developing strong Asian brands, Hong Kong fashion conglomerate I.T is finally coming to Singapore. In June, 2013, the group will open an i.t multi-brand boutique at Wisma Atria with nine brands; six in-house labels and three from Japan.
Focusing on fashion and accessories for guys and girls from 20-35 years old, i.t is the more youth-oriented branch of the I.T group which has established itself as the source of fashion-forward brands like Kenzo, Comme des Garçons, A Bathing Ape, Isabel Marant and Maison Martin Marigela throughout Asia.
The Singapore store, in collaboration with Singapore retail powerhouse Wing Tai, will take up 10,200 sq ft on level 3 at Wisma Atria and will launch with in-house brands Izzue, b+ab, 5cm, tout à coup, fingercroxx and Venilla suite alongside Japanese labels as know as de base, mysty woman and Pageboy. There will also be shoes from Puzzle and some Jeffery Campbell as well.

Inside the store there will be different sections set up to reflect the different brands’ “DNA”, the interior will be similar to I.T’s Hollywood Plaza store in Mongkok, Hong Kong.
According to Ms Deborah Cheng, VP of International Business for I.T Ltd, the company is launching in Singapore with its in-house brands first as they’ll be more flexible in being able to be adapted and “tailor-made” to the local shoppers. “If the in-house brands are successful in Singapore we’ll also look at establishing them as free-standing boutiques,” said Ms Cheng.
She also said that many of the international brands that I.T carries in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China are already available in Singapore.
While Singapore “fashion insiders” are already well-aware of I.T and its offshoot brands, and going by the turnout at the store launch on April 11, 2013, are already supporting the new store, Ms Cheng was confident that i.t’s brands could bring something new to the Singapore shopping scene.
“We’re very confident that the market will welcome our brands. Singapore women tend to dress in a certain way, a bit more sexy and feminine, but our collections’ style is looser and more boyish, offering shoppers something new. The Japanese brands we’re bringing in especially mysty woman and Pageboy are more feminine though, so we’re catering to those who want a more feminine style too,” explained Ms Cheng.
Interestingly, Ms Cheng said that a number of major European department stores have contacted I.T recently about stocking its in-house brands, especially Izzue.
“I would really like one of our brands to hit the international level,” said Ms Cheng. “I’d love Izzue to be more visible in Europe. There are lots of Japanese brands that have ‘made it’ on the international market, not just the high-end designers but also mass market brands like Uniqlo. My great ambition is to have a Chinese brand at that level; Chinese brands are not yet recognised so it would be great to take Izzue to the next level.”
As for how the I.T brands go about creating their collections, Ms Cheng explained that there are completely dedicated design teams that work separately on their own brands, and that there is, in fact, some friendly rivalry between the brands.
Design wise, and price wise, the i.t brands aren’t your run-of-the-mill high-street fare; similar in some ways to brands like All Saints, Urban Outfitters and Sandro, these brands are less about price-point and more about concept and identity.
I.T and its offshoots have been strongly supported by Asian celebrities like Cherie Chung, Lynn Xion, Eddie Peng, Guey Lun Mei, Charlene Choi, Angelababy, Kelly Chen, Anthony Wong, Pakho Chau, Helen To, Jennifer Tse (sister of Nicholas, who’s also a fan) and Shawn Yue – some of whom are sure to turn up for the store opening in June, although Ms Cheng couldn’t name names at this point.
All in all, the arrival of i.t in June adds another dimension to the shoppers’ paradise that is Singapore’s Orchard Road; we can’t wait.

Give back with Uniqlo x Novak Djokovic ‘Clothes for Smiles”

Sales from selected ranges of clothing will go to providing children with a brighter future

‘Tis the season of giving, and giving back to society is how we’d like to end our year.
UNIQLO and world famous tennis player, Novak Djokovic, has teamed up to encourage consumers to give back as they shop - the Japanese casual wear label has established a US$10 million “Clothes for Smiles” fund, which will improve the lives of children in countries such as Bangladesh, Philippines and China, with more countries set to follow.
Half of the US$10 million fund will be given to UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) and the public will have the opportunity to decide how to invest the other half.
Proceeds from the Heattech and Ultra Light Down range that are sold during the FW 2012 season will go to the “Clothes for Smiles” fund, which will keep you warm while it benefits underprivileged children - just in time for the holiday season!
You can also contribute to this cause by sharing your ideas on how you’d like to see the funds be used through a dedicated website, www.uniqlo.com/smiles. The website will be available in nine languages, which further emphasises the brand’s dedication to making this a global effort.
Entries will be accepted from October 16 to December 31, and suggestions will be available for viewing on the site. An impressive panel of judges including Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Novak Djokovic himself, and chairman of Fast Retailing, President & CEO, Tadashi Yanai will select ideas, which will be implemented in March 2013; making it a great opportunity for one to have a positive impact on the lives of others.
Now, isn’t that something that warms your heart?
Ideas on the use of Uniqlo x Novak Djokovic “Clothes for Smiles” fund will be accepted from October 16 - December 31. For more information, visit www.uniqlo.com/smiles
