Harajuku street style fix without leaving town thanks to new multi-label
Japanese fashion store JRunway
JRunway, a 3,600 sq ft multi-label concept store, has opened in the new extension at Plaza Singapura with 22 cult Japanese fashion labels and another seven accessories and beauty brands to boot.
Featuring hot Harajuku brands like Ciaopanic, EMODA, MOMOTARO JEANS, PUTUMAYO, VANQUISH and WEGO (pictured above), JRunway is the perfect place to get your Japanese fashion fix; the beauty and accessories labels include favourites like BRIGITTE, Dolly Wink and Gizmobies (pictured below).
Adding to the super-cool factor, the shop has an actual 20-metre-long runway in the centre of the store that will host regular fashion shows as well as Japanese art and cultural showcases.
“JRunway is more than just a store, in fact, it is a very unique concept that we are introducing to Singapore – the first in ASEAN,” said Mr Kenji Chigira, CEO of Apparel Web Group, the company behind JRunway.
“We are bringing the entire experience of Japanese fashion culture here and creating a community space in which our customers can immerse themselves from the minute they walk through our doors. Our trained Style Concierges play a big role in this experience, by helping our customers create Japan-inspired custom looks.”
The first Japanese multi-label store in Singapore, JRunway is a joint venture between Apparel Web Inc., Chori Co., Ltd. and Mizuho Corporate Bank. It’s also being supported by Singapore’s top streetwear retailer 77th Street.
You can be a part of this new Japan-centric fashion experience by entering the “face of JRunway” Brand Ambassador competition; applications open on November 21, 2012 and 10 finalists will be shortlisted to compete for the JRunway Brand Ambassador title – one that will earn the grand prize winner a year-long modelling contract with JRunway, as well as an exchange programme with JRunway’s partner modelling agency, BARK in STYLe, in Japan.
Details about the Brand Ambassador contest will be release at the JRunway launch event on November 21, 2012, from 6pm. There will be a special runway show featuring Japanese models, Taku and Tatsuya, from BARK in STYLe, as well as guest appearances by celebrity fashion bloggers Cheesie and Qiu Qiu.
