Spanish ballet flats brand Pretty Ballerinas is now available at Robinsons in Singapore

If you’re the kind of girl who lives in ballerina flats – like most of us here at herworldPLUS – then you need to head straight to Robinsons to check out Pretty Ballerinas, a new-to-Singapore brand with its roots in Menorca, Spain.

Pretty Ballerinas started off as an online boutique in February 2005, selling its flats via prettyballerinas.com, but soon opened its first brick-and-mortar store in the heart of London on Mayfair in 2007.

Pretty Ballerinas is by no means a young, inexperienced brand. Its parent company, Mascaro, has had a long history – since 1918 – of making ballet flats by hand. This expertise, combined with their savvy marketing skills and flair for designing shoes that women want, has transformed it into a brand that is available in more than 16 countries around the world.

Each style is named after a female screen or music icon, like the Marilyn, the Shirley and the Rita. This is meant to help customers remember their favourite style in a pinch, especially when faced with the eye-dazzling variety of ballet flats.

The Rosario

My personal favourite is the Rosario – I believe it is named after the Spanish singer Rosario Flores – I love the rounded toe cap and the barely negligible heel.
