'The Price is Right' stage show comes to Newport News

The iconic television show "The Price is Right" is bringing its live stage show to the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News.
During the stage show, contestants are pulled from the audience, just as in the television series. A press release for the show says audience members can win appliances, vacations and new cars, among other prizes.
The show will come to Newport News on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The stage show has been on a touring circuit for six years and given away more than $10 million in prizes, the press release says.
Tickets for the Newport News show are $47. Christopher Newport University alumni are given a first shot at purchasing tickets through Dec. 16. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17.
Some online fan reviews of the show have noted that expectations should be adjusted when buying tickets for the show. Prizes are awarded throughout the stage show, just as in the television event, but prize values are often in the hundreds, rather than the thousands. Still, online reviews we have seen are generally positive.
