The Internet is buzzing not only with rumors about Kate Middleton's wedding dress designer but also speculation that Prince William and his fiancee will forgo gifts, instead asking guests to donate to favored charities.
According to the Telegraph, "The couple are finalising the list for their wedding invitations, in which guests will be given details of how to make a charitable donation to a cause with which they are associated."
The Daily Mail suggests that the couple are still to receive gifts from family and close friends but that instead of "getting a host of unneeded presents from foreign dignitaries and VIPs, they are planning to request cash donations to more than 20 charities of which William is patron or president."
A separate Telegraph article notes that William and Kate, like previous royal couples, stand to receive thousands of gifts -- jewelry, artwork, china and more -- from well-wishers worldwide. But the charity plan isn't a done deal. A spokesman for the palace told the Daily Mail: "It's something they are considering, [b]ut no final decision has been taken yet so there is no guidance on how it will work."
